Recently I became interested in scuba diving.  For that I needed to become a certified scuba diver and I needed to find a quality dive center to receive my instruction. I was referred by several people to the same dive service; Scuba Ted's of Springville, Utah. I decided to get my certification through Scuba Ted's and here is a review of the dive service and my experience there.

Scuba Ted'sWhen I first came to Scuba Ted's dive shop I was a little nervous about the idea of scuba diving. That feeling quickly dissipated as I spoke with the staff at Scuba Ted's. Right off they made me feel at ease as we discussed what I should expect from my first dive class. From the get go it was evident that they were very knowledgeable about scuba and instructing newcomers to the sport.  The first course I would take would be the Open Water Diver course. The course instructor was excellent and taught the course very well. This was impressive seeing that the demographics of our class ranged from young teens to older men in their 60's.

The Scuba Ted's dive shop carries pretty much any and all supplies a diver would ever need and can service almost any dive equipment. They have good facilities for course instruction, dive supplies, products, and equipment servicing. For in pool course instruction Scuba Ted's uses the Springville city pool. For open water dive instruction there are many local lakes they can use and nearby is the Homestead Crater, a natural hot springs crater, which allows for year round diving. The homestead crater reaches a depth of around 60ft and it's temperature stays in the mid to low 90's.  This location is used often for open water certification.

Scuba Ted's also sponsors a local dive club and often organizes diving excursions to local dive sites as well as exotic locations around the world.  Information about the dive club and diving excursions can be found on the dive shop website.

The dive shop at Scuba Ted's is certified as a 5 Star PADI Instructor Development Center. PADI is the Professional Association of Diving Instructors and is recognized internationaly as the standard when it comes to recreational and professional diving. Scuba Ted's offers a wide variety of beginner, advanced, continuing education, and specialty courses. Scuba Ted's dive shop does have a web presence at scubateds.com. Check it out for class schedules and additional information.  Since becoming open water certified I have continued diving and acquired certifications for Advanced Open Water Diver, Enriched Air Diver, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster with an EFR instructor certification all from Scuba Ted's.  This shop is first rate and you can't beat their prices.
